London and Russian Arrival

Gahhh.

I've been in Russia now for ten days. Ten days with shoddy internet service and no phone. NO PHONE! It's like a piece of me has died.. Sad panda.

Seeing as how I didn't update this in London like I had planned, I suppose I'll start from there..

After I got off the plane from Kansas City to Chicago, I got to spend about four hours derping around the O'Hare International Airport.. It was a great time, but not really. Before I went through security, I ate my last American meal. McDonalds. I hated every minute of it, but, 'Murica, you know, and all that shit. Whatever. I then went through the security (without getting cavity searched, unfortunately) and sat down near this cute guy I had seen walking up. Turns out, cute guy was going to Norway for a couple months. He was a surfer from California and I can't quite remember his name at the moment. Ah, well.

The plane was rather large and the food was decent. It was a lovely seven hour plane ride to London. I met a couple of my fellow peers on the way.

There are a couple pictures to stare at. I drank wine. Yeah. Wine on a plane. I felt fancy.

After I arrived in London (at 6:30am!!), all the others in my group who flew on the place with me, along with myself, went to get our bags and meet up with the program representative. One of the girls in my group was unfortunate enough to have her luggage forgotten back in Chicago. Sucks for her.

We met up with the group woman and then hung out for a bit until everyone arrived. I ordered a coffee while we waited. Four pounds. FOUR pounds for a medium coffee. Those bitches practically stole from me. I saw on the receipt that there was a rather substantial (given the price) tax on the coffee. I asked the old guy next to me if we liked this tax. He responded, "No, but we don't like any taxes." So there you go. We Londoners/Englanders/Britainers don't like any taxes. Ha. Move to France. (This last comment is directed primarily at those of you lucky enough to make more than $800,000 or something like that. That 75% income tax will be wonderful. And Americans' thought they had it bad. Fucking whiner-babies.)

Anyway...

I then went on a boring ride on a bus from the airport to the hotel. Took forever! But I met some cool people on the way. Another gay guy. (There are four of us! We are all sharing the same suite! Bitches be crazy (in a cool way)). Met a couple of Frenchie girls (girls going to France) and another Russian-bound chick.

The hotel was alright. Fancy enough for my taste. We couldn't check in until 2:00pm, so most of us traveled around and did some stuff. Came back, left, ate supper, and then came the fun part: the club. Using the tube to get around is pretty cool, but a bit daunting if you've never used it before. A group of about eight of us went to a club that one of the girls had been to called Tiger Tiger (or some shit). It was pretty fun. I danced a bit, drank a bit. Stared at the cute British boys. Couldn't tell if any were gay though. They all look gay. All of them. It was a bit irritating. Saw some "straight" guy lick up another guy's stomach. I guess the Brits are more comfortable with having homosexual experiences on a dancefloor...? I'll remember that for the future. :D

The next day I derped around for a while. Went to a park with some of the others in the program. I got to eat supper with my cousin, Marlan. I haven't seen him in years. We got a beer at a pub, walked a bit to find some decent food, and then hung out for a while and talked. I like him. It's too bad him and I hadn't met sooner. Ah, well.

That night I went to a pub with the Frenchie girls and the other gay guy, John. It was decent. We didn't stay out too late because we had to leave for the air port at 5:30am.

We ended up just drinking and hanging out in a hotel room. I went to bed around 4:15am. I got up at 4:50ish. Great time though.

The airport was big, but easy to navigate. Frenchie girls, John, Frenchie guy named Ryan, Russian-bound girl, Emma, and I just found food and tiredly sat down to do nothing for a few hours.

Once I was on the plane to Russia, I started taking a few photos. I might have slept, but I don't think I did. We got fed another semi-decent meal and I talked to a few of the others in my group. Saw quite a few old Russian people. Ha. They looked indifferent.

Four hours later, we arrived in Russia. The time was about 4:00pm-ish. We had to fill out some migration card thing while we were at the airport before we reached the passport place. Fun Fun Fun. The passport control woman mumbled some shit in Russian and then looked at me weird when I said, "Huh?". She was a mumbler. Poor woman. I guess the girl behind me heard Mumbler say something about stupid students in Russian. She must have slipped on the ice on her way to work. So rude.

After waiting for a few more people to arrive, we hopped onto another bus and left for the dorm. We got there around dinner time and ate in a cafeteria place. I got fish. Because I'm a vegetarian. Was a vegetarian. Mostly a vegetarian. Vegetables are expensive here and the grocery stores are fucking crazy. Don't hate.

After supper, we hung around, had a meeting, I think, and then went to bed. All-in-all, it was a good time. The people I live with please me for the time being. Hopefully it will last.

Well, I'm going to leave it at that for now. I'll update again here in a couple days. Don't worry though, I'll only talk about more specific events that have happened in the last several days, rather than my entire day. That shit takes forever to write about. This post took me like a freaking hour. I should have been doing my homework, but oh, well. I've not changed so much as to do my homework before it's due.

Пока пока!
